Marines and sailors from Headquarters and Support Battalion, participate in a remembrance run September 11, 2019, on Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan. About 300 runners from Alpha and Bravo Company each completed five and a half miles around the base perimeter to represent the eleventh day of September. September 11, 2001. On this day we will forever celebrate the bravery of the first responders; and grieve for the fallen citizens of this great country. Take a minute to remember the day America was attacked. Remember those who lost their lives in this shocking act of terrorism; those who fought in the ensuing conflicts; and those who never made it home. Remember those towers that once stood watch over the largest city in America. Today we remember.

MCAS Iwakuni 3rd Annual 9_11 Stair Climb

U.S. Marines with Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting hold the 3rd annual stair climb in honor of 9/11 victims at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Sept. 11, 2017. Participants took to climbing 108 flights of stairs as a tribute to all who were involved in the terrorist attack. Firefighter gear, to include boots, pants, a coat, oxygen tanks and bundles of fire hose, was available to participants who dared to take the challenge of suffering through the stair climb in the same gear first responders did. Commemorating the Fallen: U.S. Marines Play Memorial Rugby Match in Darwin

On Sept. 11, 2017 U.S. Marines with Marine Rotational Force Darwin played a rugby match against the Darwin Stray Cats Rugby Club to honor and remember the lives lost during the terrorist attacks on 9/11. The match has become an annual event to commemorate the friendships made during a rugby match that took place between U.S. Marine and sailors with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit and the Stray Cats on September 11, 2001.
