The 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) supported the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA),the lead federal agency, during disaster relief operations in the wake of Hurricane Irma in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Florida through the month of September. The Navy-Marine Corps team, part of the Department of Defense, supported the efforts by transporting personnel, delivering equipment, food and supplies, and conducting route-clearing operations.
