Mrs. Shimojo and Chief Warrant Officer John Hyatt led the Kinser Elementary School students in making 'senbazuru' for the elementary students of Antilles Elementary School affected by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. The students asked the local and military communities to fold hundreds of paper cranes and place them in designated drop boxes around Okinawa, Japan. Senbazuru is a group of 1,000 paper origami paper cranes made of 25 long stands of 40 cranes. The cranes symbolize hope and healing during challenging times. The local and military communities, and students from Germany, donated so many cranes that the Kinser Elementary Students were able to make three senbazuru. (Video by Lance Cpl. Tayler P. Schwamb)

Food service Marines with 3d Marine Logistics Group are given the chance to show their creativity and step away from their routine during the Chef of the Quarter competition at the Camp Kinser Mess Hall, September 28, 2017 in Okinawa, Japan. The Marines are tested on their cooking abilities and judged by two food service Marines and two Marines from other military occupational specialties. This competition allows participants to receive critiques and improve their skills in the kitchen. Food specialists Cpl. Tina Curtis and Lance Cpl. U.S. Marine Cpls. Otto Thiele, Eric Goodman, and Christopher Ehms and Lance Cpls. Antonio Martinez and Avelardo Guevara Osuna came together to assist a local Japanese woman during their hike on Mt. Fuji, Japan, July 3, 2017. The woman, Oda Moe, was found lying on the ground and hyperventilating when the Marines came to her assistance. Together, they created a makeshift stretcher to carry her down the mountain, approximately two miles, to get medical assistance at a police station. The Marines are with Electronics Maintenance Company, 3rd Maintenance Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 35, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force.

Col. Christopher A. Feyedelem passes the regimental colors at the 3rd Marine Logistics Group Headquarters Regiment change of command ceremony, June 28, 2017, on Camp Kinser, Okinawa, Japan. Since July 2015, Feyedelem, a Norwalk, Ohio native, has served as the regimental commanding officer as well as the camp commander for Camp Kinser. His responsibilities not only entailed taking care of his Marines, but also developing relationships and working closely with the local community of Urasoe City.
