Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz will be officially activated on October 1, 2020. This will be the first new Marine Corps base activated since March 1, 1952, with the commissioning of what is presently Marine Corps Logistics Base, Albany, Georgia. Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni Marine Corps Community Services conducted the grand opening of a new gas station at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, Nov. 6, 2017. This gas station provides a secondary place for Status of Forces Agreement personnel to fuel up on the air station and facilitates other amenities such as coin-operated vacuums, a tire pressure check station and an automatic car wash. U.S. Navy E-2D Advanced Hawkeyes with Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron fly in a “V” formation and land at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Feb. 2, 2017. VAW-125 arrived at MCAS Iwakuni from Naval Station Norfolk, Va. The E-2D Advanced Hawkeye is equipped with the most advanced airborne radar in the world, possessing systems which increase the capabilities to defend Japan and provide security in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
