On November 3, 1983, President Ronald Reagan signed a bill marking every 3rd Monday in January, Martin Luther King, Jr., day. Dr. King lead a nonviolent Civil Rights Movement in the 1950’s and 1960’s. He worked tirelessly to achieve legal equality for African-Americans in the United States until his assassination in April of 1968.
