U.S. Marines and Sailors with Charlie Company, 2d Reconnaissance Battalion, 2d Marine Division, perform day and night parachute operations and insertion techniques using a Short SC.7 Skyvan to jump out of in Temple, TX, Jan. 8-26, 2018. The purpose of freefall insertion training is to place a Reconnaissance team safely and closely together to conduct deep ground reconnaissance, surveillance, battle space shaping, and limited scale raids in support of the Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF), other Marine air-ground task forces, or a joint force.
