The Royal Thai and U.S. Armies held a Combined Armed Forces Opening Ceremony to signal the start of training for Exercise Cobra Gold 2018 at Camp Friendship in Korat, Kingdom of Thailand, Feb. 11, 2018. The units participating in the exercise are the Royal Thai Army's 3rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, and the USA's 1-21 Infantry Battalion, 2-25 Infantry Brigade Combat Team. Royal Thai Air Force aircraft rescue firefighters conducted live-fire burns with U.S. Marines Feb. 21 at Wing One Royal Thai Air Force Base, Nakhon Ratchasima, Kingdom of Thailand during exercise Cobra Gold 2013. The training was conducted to give the firefighters confidence and proficiency in their techniques, skills, gear, and each other. CG 13, in its 32nd iteration, is designed in increase the interoperability and combined capabilities between the participating countries. The RTAF ARFF are with Wing One, RTAF. Four MV-22B Ospreys landed at Wing One Royal Thai Air Force Base, Nakhon Ratchasima, Kingdom of Thailand, Feb. 7 in preparation for exercise Cobra Gold 2013. This makes a total of six Ospreys that are ready to conduct their first exercise on Thailand. The exercise is designed to advance regional security and build capacity to effectively respond to regional crises by exercising a robust multi-national force from nations sharing common goals and security commitments in the Asia-Pacific region.
