Drill instructors and recruits from Platoon 3086, Company M remember the nine Marines from the same platoon who were killed in action in 1966 during the Vietnam War. The memorial plaque, dedicated in 2011, was made at the request of the platoon's senior drill instructor and represents the bond between drill instructors and their recruits.

The Historic Ride is held to afford participants the opportunity to to see Camp Pendleton from horseback. A ceremony is held for the unveiling of William Pinckney's new headstone at the Beaufort National Cemetery Feb. 10. Pinckney was awarded the Navy Cross for his actions during World War II. However, until today, his headstone did not reflect the Navy Cross insignia.
