PFC. William F. Moore was KIA in the Battle of Belleau Wood, France. The ceremony in Corona, Queens, also marked the 100th Anniversary of the End of World War I in 1918.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Belleau Wood, one of the Marine Corps’ most iconic battles. A ceremony took place over the Memorial Day weekend at the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery in Belleau, France in honor of the anniversary.

On May 2, the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. Robert Neller addressed Marines of Headquarters and Service Battalion, Quantico and awarded the top three teams of Marines from the Belleau Wood leadership and PME competition. The winning team will travel to Belleau, France for the Memorial Day commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the service defining battle!
