Colin Lee, wildlife biologist, Environmental Security Department, discusses the conservation efforts of the Least Bell’s Vireo at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, May 16, 2018. The Least Bell’s Vireo, a bird that spends its summers in Southern California and winters in Mexico, is one of 18 endangered species inhabiting this base. With the help of base personnel and the United States Geological Survey and their efforts to preserve and protect natural habitats, the population of the Least Bell’s Vireo has increased.
