Marine Corps Installations Pacific (MCIPAC) brings honor and remembrance to Cpl. Sara A. Medina and Lance Cpl. Jacob Hug, who lost their lives in a helicopter crash on May 15, 2015. Medina and Hug were providing photographic and video support of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions part of Operation Sahayogi Haat after devastating earthquakes struck Nepal. On May 12, 2015, Cpl. Sara A. Medina, a combat photographer and Lance Cpl. Jacob A. Hug, a combat videographer assigned to Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations Pacific, Marine Corps Base Camp Butler, Okinawa, Japan, gave their lives while providing humanitarian assistance during a disaster relief effort in Nepal during operation Sahayogi Haat. Marines with Special-Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response-Africa fought through the downwash of the MV-22 Osprey to complete their fast rope insertion training at Morón Air Base, Spain, Jan. 27, 2015. The insertion technique allows the Marines to slide down a rope into a variety of difficult landing zones and expands their operational capabilities throughout the region. Two Marines established an anchor point just beneath the Osprey, allowing the Marines above them to slide down in rapid succession and secure their landing zone.
