Communication Strategy and Operations Marines conduct a memorial ruck run at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Iwakuni, Japan, May 15, 2019. The run is dedicated to U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Sara A. Medina, a combat photographer, and Lance Cpl. Jacob Hug, a combat videographer, both were assigned to Marine Corps Installations Pacific. Cpl. Medina and Lance Cpl. Hug were on board a UH-1Y Huey helicopter with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) 469 that crashed May 12, 2015 during a humanitarian mission after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal. Marine Corps Installations Pacific (MCIPAC) brings honor and remembrance to Cpl. Sara A. Medina and Lance Cpl. Jacob Hug, who lost their lives in a helicopter crash on May 15, 2015. Medina and Hug were providing photographic and video support of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions part of Operation Sahayogi Haat after devastating earthquakes struck Nepal. On May 12, 2015, Cpl. Sara A. Medina, a combat photographer and Lance Cpl. Jacob A. Hug, a combat videographer assigned to Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations Pacific, Marine Corps Base Camp Butler, Okinawa, Japan, gave their lives while providing humanitarian assistance during a disaster relief effort in Nepal during operation Sahayogi Haat.
