Maj. Edward F. Wright receives the Silver Star medal in Portland, Ore., Feb. 1, 2019. Wright speaks about actions taken on Aug. 21, 1967, which led to him being awarded the medal. Wright led a reaction force against North Vietnamese forces that had ambushed an Army convoy and pinned down his company commander’s relief force. While exposed to intense enemy fire, Wright’s tactical expertise and strategic placement of fire support enabled his force to steadily advance and rescue the besieged Soldiers and Marines. Shane Lemieux, an offensive tackle for the West Valley High School Rams varsity football team and 17-year-old native of Yakima, Wash., was recently selected for the 2015 Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl and received his jersey from Seattle and Yakima-based Marines at West Valley High School in Yakima, Wash., Oct. 31, 2014. Lemieux is among approximately 100 student athletes from across the nation selected to participate in the game at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif., Jan. 4, 2015.
