Senior Marine Corps leaders participated in a cultural awareness presentation on Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Nov. 13, 2019. The presentation gave an opportunity for the leaders to have discussions with Japanese and U.S. subject matter experts specializing in Asian and Security Affairs. The topics discussed included: Japanese National Security Policy, the Japan - U.S. alliance, joint use of military facilities in Okinawa, understanding the regional threat, United States Forces Japan and the current status of forces issues. Units from across the Marine Corps came together along the Southern Gulf Coast to participate in the Marine Forces Special Operations Command unit readiness exercise, RAVEN. Participating units executed missions beginning at the target development phase, all the way through mission execution. The training is intended to replicate conditions Marine Raiders will encounter while deployed, while maximizing opportunities for integration with conventional forces.

Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force – Southern Command and the Infantería de Marina de Colombia will kick off a week of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief rehearsals and subject matter expert exchanges in Coveñas, Colombia, September 30. The rehearsals and exchanges are hosted by the Armada Nacional de Colombia and will conduct training rehearsals at Base de Entrenamiento de Infantería de Marina through October 5. On Sept. 16th 2019 3rd Marine Division celebrated its 77th anniversary with a ceremony at Camp Hansen Okinawa, Japan. This video was played during the ceremony to showcase to the Marines present the history of the 3rd Marine Division and its significance during World War II, Vietnam, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Tomodachi and present day operations within the indo pacific region. More than 3,000 service members from 11 countries kicked off UNITAS LX, the 60th anniversary of the annual multinational exercise, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. UNITAS is the world's longest-running exercise and brings together multinational forces from Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay, Mexico, Great Britain and the United States. The exercise focuses in strengthening the existing regional partnerships and encourages establishing new relationships through the exchange of maritime mission-focused knowledge and expertise during multinational training operations. Marines stationed at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, participated in the Regional East Marksmanship Competition at Marine Corps Base (MCB) Quantico, Virginia. The Marines trained on the Cherry Point pistol and rifle range for two weeks before traveling to MCB Quantico. During the competition, the Marines were evaluated on their speed, efficiency, and accuracy with the service pistol and rifle. Those who qualified at the Regional East Marksmanship Competition would move on to complete at the final Marine Corps Marksmanship Competition where the best participants would place and receive awards and medals. Sgt. Sean Cain was the only Marine from Cherry Point to place and medal in both competitions. Any Marines who are interested in competing should contact the MCAS Cherry Point team lead, Sgt.
