The commander of U.S. Marine Corps Forces Europe and Africa, Maj. Gen. Stephen M. Neary, visited Royal Navy’s newest aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth in Portsmouth, United Kingdom, August 27, 2020. During the visit, Neary met with the carrier’s leadership and toured the HMS Queen Elizabeth to increase understanding of the U.S. Marine Corps’ future operations with the UK Carrier Strike Group. U.S. Marines from Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 211, along with approximately six F-35B aircraft, will support the ship’s inaugural deployment in 2021. Steel Knight 2017: 1st LAR CALFEX

Marines with 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, participate in a division-level combined arms live fire exercise during Steel Knight 17 at Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif., from Dec. 5 to Dec. 10, 2016. 1st LAR mounted their LAV-25s and headed out into the desert for four days of live-fire exercises and realistic training. The unit acted in support of 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, and also was accompanied by troops with New Zealand’s Queen Alexandra’s Mounted Rifles.
