2019 Year in Review

From hosting the Super Guppy to a visit from the 38th Commandant of the Marine Corps, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, had an eventful year. It saw the turnover of its command leaders. Its community members worked hard and played hard in a multitude of training exercises and family events. It highlighted its hardworking Marines, Sailors and civilians and showed off some of what takes place behind the scenes of accomplishing the mission. Combat Life Saver Course (CLS)

Marines with Provost Marshal Office's Special Reaction Team, the Marine Corps version of SWAT, undergoes the 'kill house' Oct. 5 aboard Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan. The CLS course educates and trains Marines in basic casualty and combat care, preparing them to provide aide to injured service members in combat situations. Marines learn to provide similar life-sustainment care that a corpsman would administer until the causality can be treated by a medical professional. The final test is a high intensity course that simulates the loud, hectic environment of a real life combat situation known as ‘kill house.’ SRT scrambles to save their battle buddies, effectively treat wounds and report their position. The Military Enhancement Kit augments the M500A2 pump-action shotguns currently used by reconnaissance, security force, military police, explosive ordnance disposal and special operations Marine units. The kit gives Marines a shorter, vented breaching barrel and three interchangeable buttstock attachments: a pistol grip, fixed buttstock and collapsible buttstock.
