U.S. Marines and Sailors from units: 1st Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company; Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 269; 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion; 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion; Special Boat Team - 22, Naval Special Warfare Command Team; 2nd Transportation Battalion; 2nd Marine Division; 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing; 2nd Marine Logistics Group; 1st Marine Division; I Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group; I Marine Expeditionary Force; II Marine Expeditionary Force; U.S. Marine Corps Forces, South; U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve, and U.S. Southern Command came together to form Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force - UNITAS in support of exercise UNITAS 21. UNITAS is the world's longest-running maritime exercise. Hosted this year by Peru, it brought together multinational forces from twenty countries and included 29 ships, four submarines, and twenty aircraft conducting operations off the coast of Lima and in the jungles of Iquitos. The exercise trains forces to conduct joint maritime operations and focuses on strengthening partnerships and increasing interoperability and capability between participating naval and marine forces. UNITAS 21 consisted of a maritime, amphibious, and amazon phase, which included a series of training events to build trust, enhance confidence, and strengthen interoperability to better prepare us for a combined, multinational response to emerging crises or natural disasters. Various aviation units from 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing and military members from 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron, 1 Wing Kingston, 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group, Canadian Forces Base Edmonton, participate in service-level training events to include Integrated Training Exercise (ITX) 1-20, and Marine Air Ground Task Force Warfighting Exercise (MWX) 1-20 at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif., from Sept., to Nov. 2019. The purpose of ITX is to create a challenging, realistic training environment that produces combat-ready forces capable of operating as a Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) and to prepare units to participate in MWX. MWX is a force on force exercise designed to challenge the MAGTF, other U.S. forces, and allied nations' militaries against a peer adversary in a free-play environment in order to assist the forces with meeting current and future real-world operational demands. British Royal Marines exercised their Tactical Recovery of Aircraft and Personnel proficiency in Rindal, Norway November 6, 2018, during Exercise Trident Juncture 18. Marines from Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 and Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 269 executed a spider forward arming and refueling point mission in Okinawa, Japan, October 28, 2015. The FARP mission facilitates small aircraft to operate longer, resupply in a shorter time frame and provide close air support more frequently. The event was part of Blue Chromite 2016. Because Blue Chromite is an amphibious training exercise that draws primarily from III Marine Expeditionary Force's training resources in Okinawa, participating units maintain a forward-deployed posture while eliminating travel costs. VMM-262 is with Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force. HMLA-269 is with MAG 36 under the Unit Deployment Program. Also available in high definition.
