United States Naval Academy Midshipmen conduct summer block training alongside Marine Raiders with Marine Forces Special Operations Command on Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, July 23-25, 2024. U.S. Naval Academy Midshipmen First Class Ford Higgins of Norcross, Ga., discusses his unique experience as a Navy football player. Higgins, #72, is the starting center for the midshipmen and is the captain of the football team. Higgins also is a semi-finalist for the Jason Witten Award. Higgins is expected to graduate from the Naval Academy in spring 2020 and serve as a commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps. U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Dec. 7, 2017) - U.S. Marines and Sailors with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Commander, Amphibious Squadron 3 and USS America give a motivating message to the U.S. Naval Academy and U.S. Military Academy for this year's Army-Navy football game aboard amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6). The 15th MEU and America Amphibious Ready Group are deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners, and to preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
