The AH-1W Super Cobra participates in its Sundown flight at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base, New Orleans on Oct. 14, 2020. After an incredible 933,614 flight hours over a 34 year career, the AH-1W “Whiskey” Super Cobra flew its last flight over the City of New Orleans passing its legacy and mission to the “Zulu” variant, the AH-1Z Viper. U.S. Marines and U.S. Navy Sailors with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) participated in Navy Week 2015 in New Orleans April 23-29 and Fleet Week 2015 in Port Everglades, Fla., May 4-10. The purpose behind Fleet Week is to showcase the strength and capabilities of the Navy-Marine Corps team through tours, static displays and community relations events, providing the public the opportunity to interact with Marines and Sailors

Marines from MARFORRES volunteered at the event for Hike for KaTREEna, a non-profit organization dedicated to replacing trees lost after Hurricane Katrina. The event was part of NOLA Navy week, in which New Orleans served as the inaugural city in a three-year national celebration commemorating the War of 1812 and “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
