U.S. Marines with Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Platoon, Headquarters Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, participate in a rope rescue technicians course at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan, July 29, 2020. The CBRN Platoon conducted rescue training at a cave as part of an ongoing ropes course, in order to maintain proficiency in specialized rescue techniques. U.S. Marines with Bravo Company, 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, conduct training with f470 Combat Rubber Raiding Craft at White Beach, Okinawa, Japan, Sept. 15, 2020. This training increases their proficiency with the launch and recovery of raiding craft for covert insertion and extraction of reconnaissance teams during amphibious operations within the Indo-Pacific region. U.S. Marine Corps Sgt.Maj. Dennis M. Bradley, 3rd Marine Division sergeant major, talks about the caliber of Marines that have served in 3rd Marine Division. In observance of Vietnam Veterans Day he speaks about Gen. Lewis Walt, a former commander of 3rd Marine Division. Gen. Walt received a Silver Star while serving with the First Raider Battalion in Tulagi, was awarded two Navy Crosses during WWII, commanded III Marine Amphibious Force and served as the first four star General as Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Joshua Yang, a ground radio repairer with Communications Company, 3rd Marine Division, goes through underwater egress training on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, March 11, 2020. The training provides Marines with the confidence to efficiently exit a submerged aircraft and increase their chances of survival. Yang is a resident of Spokane, Washington.
