Maj. Edward F. Wright receives the Silver Star medal in Portland, Ore., Feb. 1, 2019. Wright speaks about actions taken on Aug. 21, 1967, which led to him being awarded the medal. Wright led a reaction force against North Vietnamese forces that had ambushed an Army convoy and pinned down his company commander’s relief force. While exposed to intense enemy fire, Wright’s tactical expertise and strategic placement of fire support enabled his force to steadily advance and rescue the besieged Soldiers and Marines. Wright was a second lieutenant serving with Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment in the Republic of Vietnam at the time. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Sgt. Andy O. Martinez)

The city of San Clemente holds a Memorial Day event at Semper Fi Park with the support of Camp Pendleton Marines, May 30. Keynote speaker Brig. Gen. Edward D. Banta, Commanding General, Marine Corps Installations – West, spoke to the audience and reminded them to cherish the sacrifices made by military service members, past and present.

Staff Sgt. Julia Edwards, operations chief, G-4, Headquarters Regiment, 1st Marine Logistics Group. is also the CEO and founder of From Discovery to Recovery Women's Center in Oceanside, Calif. Edwards was a victim of sexaul assault and opened the center in August of 2013 to help women get away from abusive situations and become advocates for others.

U.S. Marines with Combined Arms Company (CAC), Bulgarian Armed Forces, and Romanian Armed Forces take part in Platinum Lion 16-1 at Novo Selo Training Area, Bulgaria, Oct. 26-Nov. 7, 2015. Platinum Lion was the first NATO led exercise in which the CAC took part and helped to strengthen interoperability and readiness through live fire combat scenarios. Marines and sailors with 2nd Marine Logistics Group ran approximately 3 miles to celebrate the Marine Corps birthday on Nov. 10 aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., Nov. 5. After completing the run, the commanding general and sergeant major of 2nd MLG reminded the Marines and sailors about the culture of the Marine Corps and explained the 13th commandant’s Marine Corps’ birthday message.

Clay Watson, a student at Episcopal School of Dallas, was presented an award for his volunteer service to the Helping our Heroes Foundation.

This multimedia documentary captures the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) deployment to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility aboard the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group from March through November 2013. Battalion Landing Team 3/2 Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 266 (Reinforced) and Combat Logistics Battalion 26 were the 25th MEU's reinforcements. The 26th MEU is a Marine Air-Ground Task Force forward deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility aboard the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group serving as a sea based expeditionary crisis response force capable of conducting amphibious operations across the full range of military operations. Patrick McKinley were awarded Bronze Star Medals with combat action devices. Lance Cpl. Brian Murphy was also awarded a Purple Heart during the same ceremony. Cpl.
