Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point and the Governor’s Highway Safety Program kicked off ‘Operation Firecracker,’ the annual Fourth of July ‘Booze It & Lose It’ enforcement campaign June 29, 2020. The campaign runs through the Fourth of July holiday period and is recognized as one of the nation’s most effective anti-drunk-driving campaigns. Booze it & Lose it has created increased awareness of the dangers and consequences of drinking and driving through innovative education campaigns and extensive enforcement of impaired-driving laws. Marines and members of the Government of Japan gathered April 4 at the West Futenma Housing Area in Ginowan City, Japan, to celebrate the returning of the housing area to the GOJ. Key leaders of the Combined Joint Civil-Military Operations Task Force element of Exercise Cobra Gold 2015 visited Samart Loypha, the governor of Chanthaburi Province, Thailand, at the Province's capitol building Jan. 29 to discuss an Engineer Civic Action Project at Ban Chan Krehm elementary school, located Chanthaburi's Kaeng Hang Maeo District. Cobra Gold includes a specific focus on humanitarian civic assistant to support the needs and humanitarian interests of Thai civilian populations around the region. The ENCAP, which utilizes the combined force of U.S. Navy, Indian Army and Royal Thai Marine and Navy military engineers, will result in a new library facility for scholars ages 4-12.
