4th Marine Aircraft Wing celebrates its 80th Anniversary Aug. 22, 2022. U.S. Marines assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 41, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Forces Reserve, conduct a long-range refueling mission at a forward arming and refueling point located at Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center, Bridgeport, Calif., July 29, 2022. 4th MAW squadrons, including HMLA-775, Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 764, Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 112, Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 234, and Marine Wing Support Squadron 473, worked side-by-side to execute an Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations scenario during ITX 4-22. MAG-41 tripled the combat radius of the AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom via multiple refueling methods, including the first use of the Tactical Aviation Ground Refueling System during an exercise by the Reserve Component. This vastly reduced the refueling time required and prevented MAG-41 personnel and aircraft from being targeted by the enemy. This scenario was carried out entirely by MAG-41 assets and demonstrated the Reserve Component's capability to execute missions described in Force Design 2030.. (U.S. Marine Corps Video by Cpl. U.S. Marines with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 112 and Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 41, Marine Aircraft Group 41, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Forces Reserve, completed a six month deployment to the Indo-Pacific Command area of responsibility to promote regional stability and a free and open Indo-Pacific. The Texas-based Marines’ successful rotation to the Indo-Pacific region is a testament to, not only the United States’ commitment to keeping the area free and open for international trade and commerce, but also a proven demonstration of the MARFORRES relevancy, readiness, and responsiveness. The AH-1W Super Cobra participates in its Sundown flight at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base, New Orleans on Oct. 14, 2020. After an incredible 933,614 flight hours over a 34 year career, the AH-1W “Whiskey” Super Cobra flew its last flight over the City of New Orleans passing its legacy and mission to the “Zulu” variant, the AH-1Z Viper. The "Zulu" will carry the torch of its predecessor, continuing to enable Marine Forces Reserve to go, fight, and win our nation's battles through air superiority. COLD LAKE, AB, CANADA – Marines with Marine Wing Support Squadron 473, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Forces Reserve, participated in Exercise Maple Flag 50 at Canadian Forces Base Cold Lake during exercise Maple Flag, May 29 – June 23, 2017. The Marines with MWSS-473 provided support for the exercise by constructing forward arming and refueling points, allowing Canadian Bell CH-146 Griffons, and Canadian CH-147F Chinook to refuel closer to their missions.

Marines from units across Marine Forces Reserve are participating in Innovative Readiness Training Old Harbor, Alaska, April 26 – August 6, 2016. IRT Old Harbor is part of a civil and joint military program to improve military readiness while simultaneously providing quality services to underserved communities throughout the United States.

Maj. David R. Dixon the current operations officer for 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Forces Reserve, teamed up with former Disney artist Phil Jones to write the military children’s book “Goodnight Marines.” The book seeks to help Marines connect with their children and teach them about Marine Corps heritage.
