U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Brye French, the Weapons Co. Commander for Battalion Landing Team 2/5, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, conducts a 38-minute workout aboard the Amphibious Assault Ship USS Tripoli (LHA-7), in the Philippine Sea. The workout commemorated the passing of Capt. Matt Brewer, who, unfortunately, took his own life. Capt. French is a native of Millbrook, Alabama. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. A U.S. Marine Corps High-Mobility Artillery Rocket System, or HIMARS, with Quebec Battery, 5th Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, prepares to launch a M28A1, reduced range practice rocket, in support of exercise Valiant Shield 2022 on Angaur, Palau, June 8, 2022. This is the first time the Marine Corps employed a HIMARS on the Island of Angaur. The High Mobility Artillery Rocket System rapid infiltration, or HI-RAIN, was possible due to improvements made to the Angaur Airstrip during Task Force Koa Moana in 2020. CAMP TITIN, Jordan - U.S. Marines and Sailors assigned to 2nd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment (2/24) and members of the 61st Quick Reaction Force Battalion and 77th Royal Jordanian Marine Battalion with the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) successfully completed exercise Intrepid Maven (IM) 22-1 aboard Camp Titin, Jordan, March 22. The engagement was the first iteration of the Marine Corps Forces, Central Command led (USMARCENT) IM exercise series designed to increase interoperability, strengthen enduring partnerships, enhance U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) readiness, and deter malign actors in the region.
