Video production created in honor of the Toys for Tots 75th anniversary on Oct. 13, 2022 at Marine Forces Reserve Support Facility. The mission of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is to assist the U. S. Marine Corps in providing a tangible sign of hope to economically disadvantaged children at Christmas. This assistance includes providing day-to-day leadership and oversight of the Program, raising funds to provide toys to supplement the collections of local Toys for Tots Campaigns, to provide promotional and support material and defray the costs of conducting annual Toys for Tots Campaigns. Other Foundation support includes providing administrative, advisory, financial, logistic and promotional support to local Toys for Tots Coordinators; managing funds raised and monies donated based on the use of Toys for Tots name or logo; providing other support that the Marine Corps, as a federal agency, cannot provide; and conducting public education and information programs about Toys for Tots that call the general public to action in support of this patriotic community action program. U.S. Marines with Marine Forces Reserve attended the Inspector-Instructor (I&I) Orientation Training in New Orleans, Aug. 29 to Sep. 1, 2022. To keep the Marine Corps Reserve relevant, ready and responsive, this annual training provides guidance and best practices to recently assigned I&I staff by addressing key functional areas and emphasizing policies and procedures necessary for mission success. Marines with 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, assigned to Task Force Pickett, finished support of Operation Allies Welcome, with the last group of Afghan nationals temporarily housed at Fort Pickett, Virginia as part of Operation Allies Welcome (OAW) departing the base on Feb. 1, 2022. Fort Pickett is the sixth of eight Department of Defense (DOD) installations supporting the resettlement of Afghan nationals, also known as “safe havens,” to complete OAW-related operations. To date, more than 68,000 Afghan evacuees have joined new communities across the country. These resettlement efforts are led by the Department of State in close coordination with more than 290 local resettlement affiliates.
