Allied, partner nations observe Force Design’s IBX in action

Seven Allied and partner nation foreign liaison officers assigned to Marine Corps Combat Development Command observe a company live-fire exercise on Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif., July 30. The FLO’s toured the Battle Simulation Center and observed the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines’ company live-fire on Range 400 and urban lane training in order to get a firsthand look how Force Design is reshaping the Corps’ infantry battalions through the Infantry Battalion Experiment. Changing the Game: Distributed Operations as a Stand In Force

U.S. Marines with 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division conducted a distributed operations exercise throughout California from April 18 - 25, 2022. The exercise demonstrated the unit's lethality, endurance, and comprehensive warfighting capability. Celebrating 100 Years of Marine Corps Air Facility

Lt. Col. Daniel Murphy, commanding officer of Marine Corps Air Facility (MCAF) Quantico, and Annette Amerman, branch head and historian of Marine Corps History Division at Quantico, speak of MCAF's significance with Marine Corps aviation since its establishment in 1919. Known as "the cradle of Marine aviation," MCAF was a prime location to test aircraft capabilities, beginning with air balloon spotting, smoke screens, dive bombing and torpedo bombing, and much more. It is also the location of Marine Helicopter Squadron 1, better known as HMX-1 or the presidential squadron, where they still test vertical envelopment for aircraft while directly supporting the president of the United States.

The Navy (All Hands Magazine) and U.S. Marine Corps team officially wrapped up the Ship-to-Shore Maneuver Exploration and Experimentation Advanced Naval Technology Exercise 2017 this month at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California. Marines and sailors field-tested more than 50 new technologies, everything from swarming unmanned surface vessels to self-driving amphibious assault vehicles. The resulting force of these technological capabilities will integrate operations across all domains to include information and cyberspace.
