Starting this April and continuing through 2015, the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and U.S. Coast Guard will commemorate the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 and the Star Spangled Banner. The War of 1812 celebration will commemorate Naval history and showcase the capabilities of today’s Navy-Marine Corps team. Narration by Capt. C. Faith Zimmerman. Produced by Lance Cpl. Wreath Laying Honors for Maj. Daniel Carmick

Marines of Marine Forces Reserve along with Lt. Gen. Richard P. Mills, commander of MARFORRES, honored Maj. Daniel Carmick during a wreath laying ceremony November 8, 2014. Maj. Carmick was named the commandant of a separate post and commanded Marines and local militia men in the Battle of New Orleans. Carmick would have been the Commandant of the Marine Corps had he survived the War of 1812.

U.S. service members commemorate the "Star-Spangled Banner" at Fort McHenry National Monument Sept. 13 and 14, 2014. A flag was raised the night of the 13th, followed by a flag raising the next morning, on the same date, time and place as the original during the War of 1812.
