U.S. Marines with 3d Battalion, 2d Marines conduct a Tactical Small Unit Leader Course on Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan, July 27, 2022. The Battle of Iwo Jima, officially named Operation Detachment, lasted 36 days and claimed the lives of 1,131 and wounded another 4,438 of 3rd Marine Division Marines and Sailors.
