SUBJ/US ARMY BIRTHDAY//
GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  On behalf of the entire Marine Corps, I extend best wishes and congratulations upon our fellow warfighters of the United States Army on the occasion of their 243rd birthday.
2.  Since its founding on 14 June 1775, the United States Army has earned the deep admiration of the Marine Corps and the sincere appreciation of a grateful nation.  Marines are proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with Soldiers today, as we have in the past.  A century ago, Marines and Soldiers fought together across France against well-entrenched Germans during WW I.  Marines and Soldiers stood valiantly against withering machinegun fire, accurate artillery and a foe that did not believe we would fight or win.  Together we proved that our combined skills and courage could turn the tide of war.
3.  Today, we continue this proud tradition in our fight against tyranny and terrorism in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and all across the globe.  Wherever the call of duty finds you today as you celebrate this milestone, know that all Marines salute you for your courage on the battlefield, your unfailing devotion to duty, and the sacrifices you have made serving our great nation.  We are proud and honored to serve alongside each one of you.
4.  Semper Fidelis, Robert B. Neller, General, U.S. Marine Corps, Commandant of the Marine Corps.//
