GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Situation.  This MARADMIN is the second advisory and the first of Fiscal Year 2017 which implements guidance resulting from Commandant of the Marine Corps-directed changes to the Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Combat Fitness Test (CFT), and Body Composition Program (BCP) announced in reference (ref) (a).  This is a coordinated Training and Education Command and Marine Corps Recruiting Command message.
2.  Purpose.  To announce changes to enlisted and officer entry-level physical standards which are effective 1 January 2017.
3.  Enlisted entry-level physical standards.  The following are minimal Initial Strength Training (IST) standards necessary for enlisted applicants not seeking a combat arms Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) outlined in ref (b) to ship to recruit training and for all applicants to begin recruit training.
a.  Male:
    Event                         Times/Repetitions
    Push-up/Pull-up Hybrid Test   3 pull-ups or 34 push-ups
    Crunches                      44 in two minutes or less
    1.5 mile run                  13 minutes, 30 seconds
b.  Female:
    Event                         Times/Repetitions
    Push-up/Pull-up Hybrid Test   1 pull-up or 15 push-ups
    Crunches                      44 in two minutes or less
    1.5 mile run                  15 minutes
c.  Recruits must score at least 120 (minimum passing score) on both the PFT and CFT to graduate from recruit training.  PFT and CFT standards announced in ref (a) will apply to all recruits who begin recruit training after 1 January 2017.  The 17-20 year old age group will be used to score all recruits on these tests regardless of their age at the time of testing.
4.  Officer entry-level physical standards.  The following are minimal by-event standards for officer candidates to be selected for Officer Candidates School (OCS) and to be inducted into training upon arrival at OCS:
a.  Male:
    Event                         Times/Repetitions
    Push-up/Pull-up Hybrid Test   8 pull-ups or 62 push-ups
    Crunches                      70 in two minutes or less
    3 mile run                    24 minutes
b.  Female:
    Event                         Times/Repetitions
    Push-up/Pull-up Hybrid Test   1 pull-up or 34 push-ups
    Crunches                      70 in two minutes or less
    3 mile run                    27 minutes
c.  Beginning 1 January 2017, in addition to meeting the above by-event minimums, officer candidates must also score at least a 220 aggregate PFT score to be accepted and inducted into OCS.  For Officer Candidates Course-224, officer candidates can be inducted into OCS if they meet the minimal by-event standards listed above and would have been retained using pre-1 January 2017 standards.
d.  To graduate OCS, officer candidates must score at least 235 on the PFT.  The age group used to score officer candidates on the induction and final fitness tests will correspond to their age at the time of testing.
e.  To begin the Basic Officer Course (BOC) and Warrant Officer Basic Course (WOBC), students must score at least 235 on the PFT and pass the CFT.  The age group used to score students BOC and WOBC students will correspond to their age at the time of testing.
5.  There are no changes to the gender neutral IST for enlisted applicants seeking a combat arms MOS or MOS classification standards outlined in ref (b).

7.  References (c) and (d) will be updated no later than 1 Jan 2017 to reflect height and weight standards announced in ref (a).
