GENTEXT REMARKS/1.  Purpose.  The Commandant of the Marine Corps has directed the establishment of a Service level G-10 Force Preservation capability to be physically located at Headquarters Marine Corps, 3000 Marine Corps Pentagon, Washington, DC 20350-3000. This MARADMIN establishes and empowers the Marine Corps G-10 (FPD) Initial Operating Capability (IOC) effective 2 December 2016, Full Operational Capability (FOC) TBD.  The Force Preservation Directorate (FPD) is a special staff element assigned to Headquarters, United States Marine Corps.  FPD serves as the Commandant(Apostrophe)s principal advisor on Force Preservation (FP).  The FPD will inform, advise, and make recommendations regarding FP policies and programs to integrate and coordinate FP efforts across the Marine Corps.  The FPD will develop and maintain an integrated knowledge management capability in order to (IOT) support the Commandant of the Marine Corp(Apostrophe)s FP initiative.
2.  Structure.  Dr. Michael S. Bermes has been selected to lead the Division as Executive Director reporting to the Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps (ACMC).  Dr. Bermes will continue in his capacity as Special Assistant to the ACMC.  The FPD construct includes two branches: Research and Data Management(Semicolon) and Policy and Program Evaluation Coordination. 
3.  This MARADMIN is applicable to the Marine Corps Total Force.
