GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  The USMC Security Management and Security Leadership Course schedule and registration for FY-17 classes are now available.  Per the references, all Security Managers, are required to receive formal training.  All other security personnel are encouraged to attend.
2.  The Security Leadership Course is a 1 day course, which provides Marine leaders with an overview of the Information and Personnel Security and Insider Threat Programs with emphasis on the following areas.  Security Program Management, Continuous Evaluation, and Insider Threat Program.  This course is open to Executive Officers (Maj and above), who are assigned as the Security Manager.  Prerequisites must be completed in order to receive a certificate of training.  Commanders, Executive Officers, Sergeants Major/1st Sergeants and senior leadership, who wish to attend for situational awareness and increased understanding, are not required to complete the prerequisites, and will not receive certificates of training.

3.  The Security Management Course is a 4.5 day course that provides security management personnel with the tools, resources and knowledge to effectively implement and manage the Information and Personnel Security Program.  Students engage in discussion and practical application regarding InfoSec, PerSec, Industrial Security, Continuous Evaluation, and Insider Threat.  The course is open to all security management billet holders within the Security Management Office, Special Security Office, and other offices that support the security effort for the command.

4.  Prerequisite courses are required to be completed prior to approval for attendance of a course.  Students must present proof of completion of all prerequisites upon check in, in order to attend and receive a certificate of completion for training.  The online prerequisite courses are available via DSS STePP at https:(slash slash)stepp.dss.mil/SelfRegistration/Login.aspx

4.b.  Attendees of the Security Management Course must possess accounts for and working knowledge of JPAS, CATS, eQIP.
4.c.  Students must register to attend the course of their choice via the PPO PSS Blog site.  In order to gain access to the site, users will require a MCEITS account.  If you already have a MCEITS account, contact Christopher Lowman for access.  If you do not have a MCEITS account, request a MCEITS account via the website https:(slash slash)mceits.usmc.mil/SitePages /MCEITS(percent)20Account(percent)20Request.aspx.  Select HQMC PPO as the page you are requesting access to.  Account approval and access to the PSS Blog, located at https:(slash slash)eis.usmc.mil/sites/hqmcppo/PS/PSS/Blog/default.aspx, will be granted within 72 hours.  If after 72 hours, the account has not been created, contact Mr. Christopher Lowman for assistance.
5.  Courses will be coordinated at the MEF/MCI-level to ensure appropriate coverage for both operational and supporting establishment units.  The hosting command will be responsible for the following:
5.a.  Prioritize attendees based on operational requirements and classroom size.
5.b.  Reserve classrooms that are sufficient in size and design, to support course delivery.  Day one will require two rooms, main classroom for presentation and a classroom (computer lab) with access to internet and systems.
5.c.  Print and deliver the student guides and handouts, provided electronically by PPO PS.
5.d.  Print the completion certificates, provided electronically by PPO PS.
5.e.  Verify the completion of the course prerequisites.
5.f.  Develop and distribute coordinating instructions for students:  travel, lodging, classroom location, security requirements for students outside the local commuting area, NLT 1 month prior to course dates.
5.g.  Designation of a POC for coordination purposes.
5.h.  Preparation and management of the class attendance roster.
6.  The maximum number of attendees is flexible, but should not exceed 60.  The minimum number of students is 15, however, exceptions will be made on a case by case basis.
7.  PPO PS assumes funding responsibility for all instructor costs.
8.  Commands are responsible for funding all travel costs for students.
