GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Per the ref, HQMC, PPO, Security Division solicited nominations for the subject awards and convened selection boards to determine this year’s award winners.
2.  The Jim Kallstrom award winners are:
2.a.  Sergeant Dejon Pruitt (leadership), 3d Law Enforcement Battalion, Headquarters Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force, for his exemplary leadership in preparation for, during, and following his deployment to Philippines as the Sergeant of the Guard for the Custodial Support Element, Marine Forces Pacific Detention Operation Mission.
2.b.  Corporal Kenneth Krebs III (bravery), Provost Marshal’s Office, Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort, South Carolina, for his unwavering bravery when disarming and subduing an armed combative subject after responding to a call for service while serving as the Watch Commander, Provost Marshal Office, Marine Corps Installations Pacific- Marine Corps Base Camp Butler.
3.  The Security and Emergency Services Civilian Marine of the year and award for heroism recipients are:
3.a.  Mr. George M. Mading (Civilian Marine of the Year), Provost Marshal’s Office, Marine Corps Installation National Capital Region-Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA, for his exemplary performance as Dispatch Coordinator, Services Officer, and Assistant Services Officer.
3.b.  Sergeant (Civ) John A. Covey (lifesaving), Provost Marshal’s Office, Marine Corps Installation National Capital Region-Marine Corps base Quantico, VA, for his heroic and lifesaving performance in the line of duty as a Marine Corps Civilian Police Patrol Supervisor.
4.  The recipients will be recognized at the 2017 U.S. Marine Corps Senior Leader’s Security Training Event awards banquet held on Tuesday, 7 march 2017, at MCRD San Diego.
5.  Logistics and expenses:  PPO PS will coordinate with award winners for accommodations, per diem and transportation to and from the conference, for recipients not deployed.  If deployed, the recipient will receive the award upon returning to their duty station.  Recipients should plan to arrive at the banquet, between 1700 and 1730 on Tuesday 7 March 2017.  Uniform for active duty personnel is service “A”.  Attire for civilian attendees is coat and tie.
