SUBJ/ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE SCHEDULE AND SOLICITATION FOR THE CY17 FEDEX EXPRESS GLOBAL LOGISTICS OPERATIONS CONFERENCE//

GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. This message announces the schedule and solicitation for the CY17 Federal Express (FedEx) Express Global Logistics Conference (GLOC) hosted by FedEx from 27 to 28 April 2017.
2. Background. The Commandant of the Marine Corps (CMC) Fellow at FedEx in conjunction with FedEx Express has arranged a two-day conference at the FedEx World Headquarters located at 3610 Hacks Cross Rd, Memphis, TN 38125. The purpose of this conference is to familiarize Marine combat service support personnel with the agile nature of FedEx logistics and supply chain operations. Participants will gain an increased situational awareness partnership and a here and a deeper understanding of FedEx logistics operations and capabilities in support of the Department of Defense. This will expose Marines to state of the art logistics capabilities. Events and presentation topics include but are not limited to FedEx Express Logistics Operations exhibits, capacity, innovation, supply chain operations, and distribution management.
3. The target audience is Sergeants (E-5)/Government Service Employees (GS-5) and above who representing fields of expertise in logistics operations, supply chain management, distribution management, and embarkation personnel. Conference participation is not a first-come, first-serve basis. Participant selection will be focused on ensuring appropriate representation of experienced personnel from across the Marine Corps. Priority/special consideration will be given to nominees representing SMUs, DMOs, MARCORLOGCOM, MC Blount Island Command, MCLB Barstow/Albany, I/II/III MEF, 1st/2d/3d MarDiv,1st/2D/3D MAW, 1st/2d/3d MLG, and MARFORPAC/COM/EUR/AF/CENT/SOC.

5. The conference attendee capacity is limited to forty personnel. All conference-associated costs and travel are unit-funded. Participants commands are responsible for funding and travel details of their Marines/GS members.
6. Transportation to and from the airport is not provided. FedEx will provide transportation for conference attendees between the recommended lodging facilities and FedEx Express World Headquarters transportation in direct support of conference events is provided. The recommended lodging facilities are: Homewood Suites by Hilton Southwind – Hacks Cross located at 3583 Hacks Cross Rd, Memphis, TN 38125/901-758-5018 and Hampton Inn Memphis – Southwind at 3579 Hacks Cross Rd, Memphis, TN 38125/901-754-8454. Conference attire is business casual no military uniforms. Any additional coordination will be conducted via FedEx CMC Fellow POC listed.

8. Commands are responsible for ensuring their nominees are submitted via email to all POCs listed in paragraph 7 above. Commands will be notified of the selected nominees via email from a listed POC NLT 15 March 2017. Once notified, commands will submit RSVPs for their participants to all POCs listed in this message NLT 01 April 2017.
