SUBJ/REDESIGNATION OF SEABASING INTEGRATION DIVISION (SID) TO MARITIME EXPEDITIONARY WARFARE INTEGRATION DIVISION (MExWID)//
POC/D. R ZAPPA/LTCOL/UNIT: CDI CDD/TEL: (703)784-6684//
GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. This message announces the name change of the Seabasing Integration Division (SID) to the Maritime Expeditionary Warfare Integration Division (MExWID) within the Capabilities Development Directorate (CDD).
2. The current name of SID is easily misunderstood and an incomplete title for the priority areas and core tasks assigned to the division. A new and more accurate name is in order to present a complete picture of the divisions work and responsibilities within the Marine Corps and outside organizations composing the naval integration community of interest.
3. A revised mission statement accurately defines the roles and tasks and purpose of MExWID: develop, integrate, and articulate Marine Corps maritime expeditionary (Seabasing) capabilities and related doctrine to enable the MAGTF to integrate with Naval Forces and operate at and from the sea.
4. The divisions priorities and core tasks inform the development and integration of maritime expeditionary capabilities which enable the MAGTF to operate at and from the sea. MExWID priorities are as follows: 38 Amphibious Warships, Integrate the 21st Century MAGTF to Maritime Platforms, Improve Surface Connectors, Improve Afloat MAGTF C4, Improve Maritime Prepositioning Force (MPF), Improve Maritime Expeditionary Doctrine.
5. MExWID Core Tasks include: Amphibious Warfare Ships, Prepositioning Ships, Afloat MAGTF C4I, Surface Connectors, Seabasing Doctrine, MAGTF to Ship Integration, Maritime Expeditionary Warfare Capability Development, and Maritime Expeditionary Warfare Force Sufficiency.
6. This MARADMIN is applicable to the Marine Corps Total Force.
7. Release authorized by Lieutenant General Robert S. Walsh, Deputy Commandant, Combat Development and Integration.//
