GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Background: Marine Corps Embassy Security Group (MCESG) Marine Security Guard (MSG) Screening Team and Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) Manpower Management Enlisted Assignments (MMEA-25) will be conducting directed screenings to identify highly qualified Marines to serve as MSG Watch-Standers for assignment to MSG classes 2-18 (02 January 2018 - 23 February 2018) and 3-18 (11 March 2018 - 13 July 2018).
2.  MMEA-25, in coordination with the Primary Military Occupational Specialty (PMOS) monitors, has identified Marines for screening and potential assignment to MSG classes during Fiscal Year 2018 (FY18).  The detailed list will be distributed via the Total Force Retention System (TFRS) and Automated Message Handling System (AMHS).
3.  Commanding Officers are directed to ensure that all Marines listed complete MSG Phase 1 screenings in accordance with reference (a).  All Phase 1 screenings will consist of the following: the Commanding Officers Screening/Interview Guide - MSG duty (reference (b)), Commanding Officers Financial Worksheet (reference (c)), security clearance letter, and tattoo screening form (if applicable).  All documents will be submitted via a SDA-Only Reenlistment, Extension, Lateral-Move (RELM) request in TFRS no later than 01 September 2017.
4. Commanders are directed to ensure all Marine Security Guard applicants complete their electronic Phase II located at https://www.manpower.usmc.mil/application_noncac/.  The MSG Screening Team will then review the screening and initiate contact with the applicant to discuss their answers and results to determine if they are qualified for assignment to MSG Duty.  Confirmed and reliable points of contact/phone numbers are required within the TFRS package.  For any additional inquiries the MSG Screening Team can be contacted via phone Monday-Friday 0800-1700EST or via email at MSGInfo@state.gov.
5.  Commanding Officers are asked to state that all requirements needed for promotion of Marines applying for MSG duty have been met in accordance with reference (d), during the final phase of MSG Recertification Screening.
6.  After successfully completing the screening, Marines will be issued a class draw case code (DCC) and issued permanent change of station (PCS) orders to MSG school.  The list of assigned Marines will be published on or about 15 October 2017.
7.  Command compliance will be assessed by the HQMC non-compliance board in accordance with reference (e).
8.  Release authorized by MajGen Michael A. Rocco, Director, Manpower Management Division.//
