GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  The Deputy Commandant, Combat Development and Integration, has published Marine Corps Warfighting Publication (MCWP) 3-05, Marine Corps Special Operations (semi-colon) dated 01 June 2017.  MCWP 3-05, Marine Corps Special Operations, is available for download via the United States Marine Corps doctrine website at https:(slant)(slant)www.doctrine.usmc.mil.
2.  Background.
   (a)  MCWP 3-05, Marine Corps Special Operations, is a new warfighting publication. The purpose of the publication is to establish doctrine for the Marine Corps(apostrophe)  participation in special operations, specifically the Service(apostrophe)s contribution to the United States Special Operations Command with the Marine Forces Special Operations Command (MARFORSOC).  This publication is intended for officers, enlisted, and other personnel who are involved with the planning, execution, or support of special operations.  It is also designed to assist the joint and interagency community with integrating Marine Corps special operations units into all other planning and operations.
   (b)  This warfighting publication defines the MARSOC organization, mission, special operations activities, characteristics, command and control, logistics, Marine special operations forces (MARSOF) and Marine air-ground task force interoperability and interdependence, and those methodologies and philosophies unique to special operations.
3.  Coordinating instructions.  Reference (a) details steps required to request publication hard copies, however, this publication will be disseminated via electronic distribution only unless commanders submit compelling needs justification for printed copies.  Units requiring print allocations must follow procedures identified in reference (a), paragraph 4a(2).  For MCPDS identification purposes, the publication control number is 143 000178 00.
4.  This MARADMIN is applicable to Marine Corps Total Force.
