GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  PURPOSE.  To clarify the use of funding for Marines to attend the Transition Goals, Plans, Success (TGPS) seminar, referred to as the Transition Readiness Seminar (TRS) in the Marine Corps.  Per reference (a), Marines are required to attend TGPS prior to transitioning.  This MARADMIN addresses options available when the transitioning Marine’s permanent duty station (PDS) is not in proximity to a supporting transition service provider’s seminar.
2.  Action.  Commanders are authorized to use organic Operations and Maintenance (OM) funds for attendance at a TGPS seminar that is outside of the local area of the Marines PDS, as defined by the Commander and per the Joint Travel Regulation, when in their judgement, that is the best course of action.  Alternative options include attendance at Navy, Army, and Air Force transition service providers, or the use of virtual curriculum, through coordination and approval of the transition servicing installation staff prior to initiating.
3.  Commanders who choose to utilize organic OM funding to fund a transitioning Marines attendance at a TGPS seminar outside the PDS will not have budgets adjusted to accommodate that decision.
4.  Release authorized by BGen K. W. Stein, Director, Marine and Family Programs Division.//
