GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  The Commandant has published a change for Marine Corps Doctrinal Publication (MCDP) 1-0, Marine Corps Operations, Change 1; dated 26 July 2017.  MCDP 1-0, Marine Corps Operations, Change 1, is available for download via the United States Marine Corps doctrine website at https:(slant)(slant)www.doctrine.usmc.mil.
2.  Background.
    (a) MCDP 1-0 was last signed 09 August 2011.  During the last revision, it was directed to place a paragraph in chapter two that talks about five standing Marine expeditionary brigades (MEBs) that are geographically associated with Marine Corps Forces (MARFORs).  Due to further structure changes in the Marine Corps, the five MEBs described are not accurate.  This change deletes this erroneous discussion.
    (b) Additionally, since the publication was last signed, the Marine Corps has refined its missions, which require new tactical tasks.  This change revises appendix C to accurately reflect current tactical tasks in the Marine Corps.  For clarity, it groups the tactical tasks into enemy–oriented, terrain-oriented, friendly-oriented, and population-oriented tasks.  This important change will also give clarity to tactical tasks that are discussed in other doctrine publications currently in revision or development.
    (c) This change replaces pages 2-11 and 2-12 (removing the erroneous paragraph discussing specific MEBs) and replaces appendix C, pages C-1 through C-6, with the new appendix C correcting an outdated discussion of tactical tasks and replacing it with an expanded and accurate discussion of tactical tasks.
3.  Coordinating instructions.  Reference (a) details steps required to request publication hard copies, however, this publication will be disseminated via electronic distribution only unless commanders submit compelling needs justification for printed copies.  Units requiring print allocations must follow procedures identified in reference (a), paragraph 4a(2).  For Marine Corps Publication Distribution System (MCPDS) identification purposes, the publication control number is 142 000014 01.
4.  This MARADMIN is applicable to Marine Corps total force.
5.  Release authorized by Lieutenant General Robert S. Walsh, Deputy Commandant, Combat Development and Integration.//
