GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  This MARADMIN announces the perceptions and experiences of organizational culture in the Marine Corps exploratory research project.  The purpose of this research is to help Marine Corps Senior Leaders learn more about Marines' perceptions and experiences related to social cohesion, gender bias, and leadership within our ranks.
2.  Active Duty Marines at selected bases and stations will be invited to voluntarily participate in focus groups and interviews.  Both enlisted (E1-E8) and officer (O1-O5) active duty Marines in any MOS are eligible to participate in this study.  However, participation is limited to the locations noted below.
3.  The study will be conducted through the use of focus groups and individual interviews.  Three or more focus groups will be conducted at each location.  Approximately six to twelve Marines are needed for each focus group.  Individual interviews will also be conducted as participants and researchers are available and may be an option for Marines who wish to participate but are reluctant to do so in a group.
4.  Focus groups and interviews will take place at the following locations during 2017:
22-23 Aug - Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Lejeune
24    Aug – Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point
06-07 Sep - National Capital Region (Quantico, Pentagon)
12-14 Sep - MCB Camp Pendleton
18-20 Sep - Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center 29 Palms
25-27 Sep - MCAS Yuma
TBD (Oct) - MCB Camp Butler (Okinawa)
5.  Interested Marines should register in advance of the research team's visit to his or her location at the following website:  https:(slash)(slash)survey.max.gov/389172 no later than 3 days before the focus groups and interviews are scheduled to occur.  There will also be opportunities for Marines to register in-person when the research team is on site, usually the day prior to the event.
6.  Unit commanders, support is critical to the success of this study.  It is important that you allow your Marines the opportunity to participate in these focus groups and interviews; the results will be used to inform programs, policies, and efforts to improve Marine Corps organizational culture.  However, unit commanders cannot direct a Marine to participate.  Only Marines (E1-O5) who are interested volunteers may participate.
7.  This MARADMIN is not applicable to the Marine Corps Reserve.
8.  This MARADMIN is cancelled 1 January 2018.
9.  Point of contact for Admin and Support requirements is Capt Jeremy Mclean, Office Of U.S. Marine Corps Communication at jeremy.d.mclean@usmc.mil.  Point of contact for the research requests is the principal investigator, Dr. Kerry Fosher, Director of Research, CAOCL/MCU at kerry.fosher@usmc.mil.  Point of contact for questions regarding human research protection is Ms. Leah Watson, USMC HRP Official, at leah.watson@usmc.mil.
