GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  This message announces the Fiscal Year 2018 active duty class dates for the Regional Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academies (SNCOAs).  The course dates are posted on the Enlisted Professional Military Education (EPME) website under the EPME Academic Calendar link:  https:(slant)(slant)www.usmcu.edu/epme.
2.  Coordinating Instructions
2.A.  The current version of the command screening checklist, reference (e), and the EPME duty status waiver request, reference (f), may be downloaded from the EPME website, under the Education Resources section.
2.B.  Course Prerequisites
2.B.1.  The prerequisites for all courses can be located on the EPME website in the Reporting Instructions section for each regional academy.
2.B.2.  Duty Status:  resident Sergeant, Career, and Advanced Course students may be in a limited duty or pregnancy status with exceptions, see the instructions contained in reference (f) for specific guidance.
2.C.  Course Registration:
2.C.1.  Marines who must travel in order to attend resident PME (those who are in the Continental United States (CONUS) and not co-located with a regional SNCOA) will register for a course at the MCB Quantico SNCOA in order to maximize the efficient use of school seats available at the SNCOAs.  Marines from inside the local area of the regional SNCOA will have priority for seat registration.  This does not apply to those students who are traveling to the MCB Camp Butler SNCOA from other outside CONUS locations.
2.C.2.  Units must submit their nominations through their respective Marine Forces (MARFOR) representative for registration in Marine Corps Training Information Management System (MCTIMS).  All nominations, regardless of location, must be received by the respective MARFOR representative no later than 45 days prior to the class reporting date.
2.C.3.  Students who have been registered in MCTIMS, but can no longer attend a scheduled course, must have their registration cancelled within the MCTIMS student registrar module.  Cancelling a students registration is the unit S3/G3 responsibility and shall be coordinated with the respective MARFOR representative.
2.D.  Appropriation Data:
2.D.1.  MARFOR representatives will request TECOM World Wide Travel funding for attendees through the TECOM G-8 Formal School Training Support Branch (C464).
2.D.2.  Rental car is not authorized.
2.D.3.  Within 45 days following the completion of the course, each unit will provide a copy of the students liquidation to CG, TECOM, Quantico, VA 22134 (C464FM).
2.D.4.  EPME recognizes the value of attendance of its resident courses by sister service members.  To this end, EPME provides nine seat allocations, spread across its CONUS academies per each of the resident courses.  Funding for travel, per diem, and billeting when necessary, are the responsibility of the sister service.  Nominations must be received by EPME operations 60 days in advance of course report dates.  Questions regarding which of the CONUS academies have vacant allocations, or for assistance with the distance education requirement, should be directed to the EPME operations section at (703) 432-5286.
3.  Amplifying Instructions
3.A.  Specific instructions regarding reporting, uniforms, times, gear lists, course material, messing instructions, and billeting availability is accesible via the EPME website.
3.B.  Prospective students must complete a to temporary duty fitness report prior to reporting for temporary duty.  This requirement includes Sergeants Course students.
3.C.  Gunnery Sergeants scheduled to attend the Advanced Course must bring a copy of their unit commanders training guidance (CTG) and/or commanders training philosophy (CTP) letter.  The CTG/CTP will be used during the one-week unit readiness planning module.
3.D.  All students are highly encouraged to bring laptops or tablet devices to download student material for ease of use while attending the academy.  Students have the option to request a device from their S-6/G-6 when assets are available for temporary custody.
