RMKS//1.  Purpose.  This message serves to announce the winners for the 2017 Logistics Innovation Challenge for Mobile Applications.  170 innovative proposals were submitted by Marines, Sailors, and civilians across the Marine Corps.  The Deputy Commandant, Installations and Logistics (DC, IL) was extremely impressed by the quality and ingenuity of the submissions and commend all those who submitted for their efforts to improve the Marine Corps.  The chosen winners will now have the opportunity to mature their ideas through a hackathon rapid prototyping event, with the potential to continue development toward further testing and implementation.
2.  Selection process.  Winners were chosen based upon the criteria described in the reference.  DC, IL convened a team to evaluate and rate every submission based upon this criteria.  In the cases where ideas were similar, the team selected the top submission among the group (e.g., many ideas focused on the use of a Mobile Application for inventory management).
3.  Participant and winner way ahead.  All participants and winners will receive recognition for their hard-earned contributions to the 2017 Logistics Innovation Challenge via a letter of appreciation.  Challenge winners are eligible to attend an October Hackathon rapid prototyping event in San Diego from 20-22 October 2017.  In addition, they will have the opportunity to explore the potential for further development, testing, and implementation.  Challenge winners will also have an opportunity to interact with senior Marine Corps leaders to discuss their ideas and how to implement them.  Challenge winners will be recognized in the Official Marine Corps media channels and publications such as marines.mil and the Marine Corps Facebook page.  Winners will be contacted immediately upon release of this message.
