GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  In accordance with reference (a), Captain Samuel C. Carlson is to be congratulated as the selected recipient of the Calendar Year (CY) 2017 Chambers Award for Outstanding Leadership.  Captain Carlson is assigned to 2nd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division.
2.  Captain Carlson was selected after thorough deliberation by a board of field grade officers from commands across Marine Forces Reserve.  CY 2017 nominees had exemplary records which indicate noteworthy leadership and ability.
3.  Additional information and coordinating instructions regarding the presentation of the award will be forwarded via separate correspondence.
4.  Captain Carlson’s outstanding leadership demonstrated throughout 2017 reflects great credit upon the Reserve Component and the United States Marine Corps.
