GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Purpose.  To communicate the change from GEOFidelis Online to GEOFidelis Geospatial Portal.
2.  Background.  GEOFidelis Online is the USMC Installation Geospatial Information and Services (IGIS) tool used by service members, civilian employees, and contracted support to access, view, and request geospatial support for all USMC IGIS data.  GEOFidelis Online is the first stop for installation data requests, area maps, and analysis of installation infrastructure.  GEOFidelis Online is the link between USMC professional geospatial staff and anyone requiring geospatial data to successfully accomplish installation specific missions.  GEOFidelis Online was developed using a custom designed proprietary solution which has resulted in a cost prohibitive environment.  GEOFidelis Online, in its current state, is not sustainable and the USMC does not have the resources to update capabilities and maintain a favorable security posture.  As a result, Marine Corps Installations Command (MCICOM) has taken the appropriate action to ensure GEOFidelis continues to be the best geospatial solution supporting its users by implementing GEOFidelis Geospatial Portal.  The GEOFidelis Geospatial Portal provides the GEOFidelis program a manageable solution to:
   a.  Stay current with technology.
   b.  Use the most secure solution available.
   c.  Move to a "commercial off the shelf" solution eliminating the reliance on a single designer.
   d.  Provide users greater geospatial capabilities not possible with GEOFidelis Online.
3.  Action.
   a.  GEOFidelis Online has transitioned to GEOFidelis Geospatial Portal and includes links to IGIS SharePoint sites and the GEOFidelis Production environment.
   b.  Users can access the GEOFidelis Geospatial Portal via MCICOM Portal (https:(slash)(slash)mcicomportal.usmc.mil/) or https:(slash)(slash)www.geofidelis.usmc.mil/portalprod/home.
   c.  GEOFidelis Geospatial Portal access is available to all individuals with a federally issued Common Access Card (CAC).
   d.  Users will notice a visual difference in website layout as well as greater functionality and additional capabilities.  One of the biggest changes is to currency and usability of the web map viewer.  Deployment of GEOFidelis Geospatial Portal, which corresponds with standardization of the central repository (CR) geospatial data layers, allows for regular automated updates to the web map data ensuring users have access to the best data available.
   e.  GEOFidelis Geospatial Portal will host web maps and applications, authoritative IGIS content, and group security features as well as provides links to IGIS SharePoint sites and GEOFidelis Production environment.
   f.  IGIS SharePoint sites will be used to communicate policy, announcements, and generate service requests.
   g.  GEOFidelis Production environment allows IGIS staff to access ESRI ArcGIS Desktop products used to create and maintain IGIS data, perform complex geospatial analysis and modeling, and develop professional cartographic products.
   h.  MCICOM GEOFidelis Program support is in the process of developing high level user guides that document standard processes such as navigating to and from each of the sites, submitting support requests, and manipulating the web map viewer.
   i.  Documentation and additional communications will be sent via Informative DONTRACKER tasks as well as posted to the MCICOM IGIS SharePoint site.
4.  Effective Date.  GEOFidelis Online became GEOFidelis Geospatial Portal effective 22 January 2018.
5.  Release authorized by MajGen V. A. Coglianese, COMMMCICOM, Assistant Deputy Commandant, Installations and Logistics.//
