AMC announces senior officer retirements, assignments

Senior officer retirements:

Lt. Gen. William Welser III, commander, 18th Air Force, Air Mobility Command, Scott AFB, will retire effective Dec. 1.

Col. Alan L. Doerman, flight chief, Mental Health, 89th Medical Operations Squadron, Andrews AFB, Md., will retire effective February 2006.

Col. Robert L. Reneau, director of operations, Tanker Airlift Control Center, Scott AFB, will retire effective January 2006.

Col. James C. Van Housen, chief, Logistic Reserve Affairs Division, Directorate of Logistics, Headquarters AMC, Scott AFB, will retire effective January 2006.

Senior officer assignments:

Maj. Gen. James A. Hawkins, director of Operations, Hq. AMC, will become commander, 18th Air Force.

Maj. Gen. Quentin L. Peterson, vice commander, 18th Air Force, will become director of Operations, Hq. AMC.

Brig. Gen. Thomas E. Stickford, director, Weather, Deputy Chief of Staff, Air and Space Operations, Hq. U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., will become vice commander, 18th Air Force.

Col. Eric G. Nelson, deputy commander, 319th Operations Group, Grand Forks AFB, N.D., will become chief, Requirements and Resources Division, Directorate of Operations, Hq. AMC, effective in December. He will replace Col. Alan K. Baker, who was previously announced.

Col. Shelley D. Christian, commandant, U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Operations School, Air Mobility Warfare Center, Fort Dix, N.J., will become executive officer to the commander, AMC, Scott AFB, effective in December.
