GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  The reference outlines solicitation for Department of Defense (DoD) and National Affinity Groups' distinguished service awards by the HQMC Equal Opportunity and Diversity Management Branch (MPE), and the Civilian Workforce Management Branch, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) (MPC-10).
2.  The Marine Corps through a competitive process has completed selections for the 3rd quarter FY18 Outreach Awards.  DoD and National Affinity Groups' distinguished service awards recognize individual Marines and Marine Corps civilian employees who through their professional achievements have made significant contributions to their community and embody the highest degree of personal integrity and ethical conduct.
   a.  All Marine and civilian employees meeting the nomination criteria are welcome to be nominated regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or religion.
   b.  Nominees meeting the criteria for multiple awards are considered based on their eligibility for each award.
3.  The following personnel are selected to represent the Marine Corps:
   a.  Major Megan McClung Leadership Award
      (1) Captain Heather Law, Marine Forces Cyber Command, Fort Meade, MD.
      (2) Gunnery Sergeant Amanda Jenks, Marine Forces Cyber Command, Fort Meade, MD.
   b.  League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Excellence in Service Award
      (1) Gunnery Sergeant Eduardo Chaidez, Recruiting Station, Los Angeles, CA, 12th Marine Corps District.
   c.  Blacks In Government (BIG) Meritorious Service Award
      (1) Lieutenant Colonel Katrina Patillo, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, CA.
4.  Congratulations to the award recipients and their commands.
   a.  The Major Megan McClung Award will be presented at the Joint Women's Leadership Symposium (JWLS) 20-22 June 2018 in San Diego, CA.
   b.  The LULAC Excellence in Service Award will be presented at the LULAC conference 17-21 July 2018 in Phoenix, AZ.
   c.  The BIG Meritorious Service Award will be presented during the BIG conference 13-16 August 2018 in New Orleans, LA.
5.  Award recipients may attend the entire conference funded by HQMC (MPE).  If the recipient is unable to attend the conference, their award will be mailed to them.  The recipient should contact the HQMC (MPE) POC to receive additional information.
6.  The next quarterly board will consider outreach awards nominations for the 4th quarter.  Nominations are due to the HQMC (MPE) POC NLT 15 June 2018:
   a.  Outstanding DoD employee with a Disability Meritorious Service Award (military and civilian).
   b.  National Image, Incorporated Meritorious Service Award (civilian/military).
   c.  Women of Color Outstanding (WOC) Achievement Award (civilian/military)
   d.  Latina Style Meritorious Service Award (civilian/military)
   e.  Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs Grateful Nation Award (JINSA) (military)
   f.  Career Communications Group, Incorporated Black Engineer of the Year Stars and Stripes Recognition Award (BEYA) (senior military officer)
7.  National Affinity Group conferences are non-federal entities and are not endorsed by the DoD or USMC.
