GENTEXT/Remarks/Ref A Announced the CY2017 Kallstrom and Security-Emergency Services Civilian Awards and solicited nominees. The purpose of this MARADMIN is to announce the recipients of the 2017 Jim Kallstrom Awards and the Marine Corps Security and Emergency Services (S/ES) Civilian Awards. The awards will be presented at the annual Marine Corps Senior Leaders Security Seminar Award Banquet which will be held 01 August, 2018 aboard Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Virginia.
2. The Jim Kallstrom Award for Outstanding Leadership is awarded to GySgt Michael R. Vasquez of Security Battalion, Provost Marshal Office, Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Virginia. The Jim Kallstrom Awards are administered by the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation (MC-LEF) and serves to recognize those Military Police, who in the performance of their duties, best exemplify the ethos of protect and serve, honor, courage and commitment, and a genuine concern for the well-being of the Corps, fellow Marines and the community they serve.
3.a The S/ES Civilian Marine of the Year Award recipient is Deputy Chief Chris Hubmer of Security and Emergency Services Battalion, Fire and Emergency Services Division, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California. The Civilian of the Year Award recognizes an individual in the Marine Corps S/ES community of interest (COI) who has effected positive change, either through a specific contribution to his/her command, or by the institution of a process improvement.
3.b The S/ES Civilian Heroism/Lifesaving Award recognizing a civilian Marine who has performed a heroic or lifesaving act in the line of duty during CY 2017 is awarded to Fire and Emergency Services Technical Rescue Team Alpha Platoon, Security Company, Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
