GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  The Executive Director, HQMC Force Preservation Directorate (G-10) will host the 2018 Force Preservation Symposium (FPS-18) from 30 July to 1 August 2018 at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Arlington, VA.  The purpose of the symposium is to bring together fleet and headquarters force preservation offices and associated stakeholders to collaborate and synchronize efforts on Marine Corps force preservation matters.  Travel days are 29 July and 2 August 2018, as applicable, with a no-host social on the evening of 31 July 2018.

4a.  HQMC Force Preservation Directorate will fund entire travel for the Marines listed in para 4.
5.  The Force Preservation Directorate (FPD) office will oversee all staff coordination for FPS-18 and is the information releasing authority for FPS-18.  In addition, the FPD staff is responsible for logistical, administrative, and operations support of FPS-18.  Points of contact (POC) for the FPD are referenced above.
6.  Admin.  Administrative, logistics, and other information to facilitate lodging, transportation, and any special needs requests will be sent via SEPCOR.
6a.  Orders.  Individual commands will issue orders for their attendees.  All orders should be non-reporting.  Government quarters and messing are not available.  CONUS Attendees are authorized to begin travel on 29 July 2018.  OCONUS Attendees are authorized to begin travel 28 July 2018.  Attendees participating in the Command Individual Risk & Resiliency Assessment System (CIRRAS) working group in vicinity of Quantico on 02 Aug 2018, will have a return travel date of 3 August 2018.
6b.  Locations.  FPS-18 will be held at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, 1555 South Southgate Rd, Arlington, VA, 22214.
6c.  Transportation.  Government transportation is not authorized from/to commercial airports.  Recommend arrival at Reagan National Airport (closest to the symposium site).
6d.  Uniforms.  The required uniform for military attendees is woodland MARPAT, sleeves up.  The required uniform for civilian attendees is business casual.
6e.  Weather.  The average temperatures for the Washington, DC area in July are 88 degrees (hi) and 68 (low), with humidity around 67 percent.  The area averages approximately 3.7 inches of rain in July.
