GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Purpose.  To announce the winners of the Marine Corps 3rd annual Commandant of the Marine Corps sponsored poster contest in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM).
2.  Background.  In April 2018, the Department of Defense marked its 14th annual observance of SAAPM with the ongoing theme “Protecting Our People Protects Our Mission.”  This theme emphasizes that every Service Member, regardless of rank, can encourage behaviors that foster a climate of dignity and respect, and in doing so, help ensure our readiness to complete the mission.
3.  Congratulations to Corporal Carlos Jimenez and Lance Corporal Lauren Brune from Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni for their entry’s selection as the winner of the 2018 SAAPM Poster Contest.  The winning entry consists of a series of six quotes from influential individuals speaking out against sexual assault in the military paired with photographs of Marines.
4.  Congratulations to the first runner up, Private First Class Lukas Eudy, and second runner up, Petty Officer 3rd Class Jonathan Wadell.
5.  Competition was particularly keen and resulted in the highest number of entries to date.  All participants are commended for their talent and commitment to the Marine Corps Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) program.
6.  The winners will be featured on marines.mil, Marine Corps Community Services Forward, in the SAPR Monthly Snapshot, and Marine Corps social media.
7.  This MARADMIN is cancelled 1 March 2019.
