ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Thirty-seven Air Force reservists from the 477th Civil Engineer Squadron arrived at Anchorage International Airport Sept. 13 after deploying to Kirkuk Air Base, Iraq.
Family and friends welcomed home the Airmen, who were deployed for four to six months. The reservists worked with Iraqis and other American Airmen and Soldiers to repair roads and runways and to reconstruct shrines for public use.
The reservists also helped train and teach local nationals on several construction techniques.
The deployment was the first full-unit deployment for the squadron and first for the 477th Fighter Group, an F-22 classic associate unit.
